OUR 2023 U-PICK will be three Sundays: Oct. 1, Oct. 8., Oct. 15 from 12-4 PM
We hope you enjoy picking in our organic orchard! Our orchard is not mown like a lawn or otherwise manicured – you will encounter uneven terrain, holes, rocks etc. Please take part in the U-pick at your own discretion and at your own risk.
Please no dogs...no exceptions.
HOW OUR U-PICK WORKS: Pick up bags at the farm store or use your own bags. Return to the store after picking to pay for your haul.
PRICING. All fruit is priced per lb., minimum U-pick qty. is a half-peck bag (±5 lbs.)
>Red Baron, Sweet Sixteen and all others but Honeycrisp: $3/lb (bulk pricing: $2.50/lb. for more than 20lbs.)
> Honeycrisp: $3.50/lb. (bulk pricing: $3.00/lb. for more than 20 lbs.)
PICKING TIPS. Apples ripen unevenly, you’ll find a mix of ripe and unripe fruit on any given tree. The background color of the fruit changes from green to yellow as the apple ripens: look for a yellow-green background color…pick ripe apples for best flavor!
> Please pick gently to avoid damaging the trees. Instead of pulling the apples straight off, lift them gently upwards.
>No climbing in or shaking the trees.
A NOTE ON FRUIT QUALITY. We’re an organic orchard, we don’t have as much control over how the fruit looks. In wet years like this, some fruit will have cosmetic issues – this is par for the course for organic apples in the Northeast.
DIRECTIONS: The bridge below the farm was damaged by the July flooding and is closed. This means you can’t get here via Craftsbury Rd. and lower Shadow Lake Rd.
>From the North, take Shadow Lake Rd. heading south as you normally would. (Ignore Road Closed signs at Rocking Rock. Rd. intersection)
>From Craftsbury: Head to East Craftsbury. / Take South Albany Rd. / R. on Mud Island Rd. / R. on Shadow Lake Rd., the farm will be approx. 2 miles. (Ignore Road Closed signs at Rocking Rock. Rd. intersection)
